About stroke and heart diseases

Ischemic heart disease and stroke accounted for combined 15.2 million deaths globally in 2016. These disease have remained the leading causes of deaths in the last 15 years

Mechanism of arteriosclerosis

• ・Arteriosclerosis will be progressed when lipids such as cholesterol are obtained into vascular endothelium
• ・Accumulation of lipids in endothelial cell will lead a formation of plaque
• ・The formation of plaque will tighten the diameter of vessels, then blood flow will get worse
• ・The rupture of plaque will cause a thrombus and result in blood stenosis
• ・In case blood stenosis is caused on cerebrovascular, it will develop stroke. In case on cardiovascular, it will develop heart disease

LOX-index for test services

• ・LOX-index is a new indicator of vascular endothelial dysfunction in the early stage of arteriosclerosis, and also showing future risk of stroke or heart attack.
• ・LOX-index is a combination assay of two biomarkers, LOX-1 and LAB.
  • ＞LOX-1(Lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor 1) is a scavenger receptor of oxidized or modified LDL.
  • ＞LAB is LOX-1 ligand containing ApoB.
• ・Focus on the mechanism of starting point arteriosclerosis where lipids are obtained into vascular endothelium (*1)
• ・Developed based on the cohort study where approx. 2500 subjects participated for 11 years (*2)
